In 1959 a group of ten women met and organized the Eastern Hills Junior Woman's Club that has grown and changed to become the present Madeira Woman's Club. The Madeira Woman's Club is a non-partisan and non-secular group that strives to further the social and cultural development of the members and to promote philanthropic and educational endeavors. We are affiliated with the Ohio Federation of Woman's Clubs and the General Federation of Woman's Clubs. We stress volunteerism and each member serves at least six hours a month at our resale shop, the Clothes Closet, which is a major source of our income. Another major source of our income is our annual Art Fair that draws artists and artisans from the surrounding area and is an anticipated event in the community. Through these and other fundraisers we are able to provide three college scholarships each year and support community projects. We strive to learn and serve others in the areas of education, the arts, health issues, conservation, home life, international affairs, public affairs, and community improvement. We also offer social events in which our members can get to know each other better and have fun together. We welcome new members who are interested in serving their community and learning more about current issues. |
