City of Madeira Tax Office

The City of Madeira's Tax Office mission is to enforce the City of Madeira Tax Code. The tax office administers and manages the collection of city income tax, audits its income tax returns, assists taxpayers in the preparation of city tax returns, issues tax refunds in a timely manner, and maintains accurate taxpayer records.

Effective October 1, 2013, the City of Madeira entered into an agreement with Sycamore Township to administer a Joint Economic Develop Zone (JEDZ).  For more information on the JEDZ, please click here.

We offer taxpayer assistance with your local income tax returns free of charge. You will need to bring all the necessary W-2's (copies are acceptable), 1099's, the first page of your Federal Form 1040, and any pertinent federal schedules to the tax office. You do not need an appointment, but filing early is highly recommended, as requests for assistance increase dramatically as the tax filing deadline approaches.

Tax Rates

The City of Madeira has an earnings tax of 1% that applies to all who live, work, operate a business within the city, or do business within the City of Madeira.
  • Effective January 1, 2008, the allowable credit is 90%.
  • Effective January 1, 2007, the allowable credit was 80%.
  • Effective January 1, 2006, the allowable credit was 60%.
  • Prior to 2006, credit was 100%.
