Overview
The Madeira Planning Commission has seven (7) members appointed by the City Council, one of which is also a member of City Council. All members of the Commission are qualified electors of the City and have four (4) year staggered terms. The Commission is responsible for the development and maintenance of a zoning and subdivision code regulating the development of structures and lots within Madeira. The Commission also prepares a land use plan, a capital improvements plan, and a central business district plan and recommends these plans to City Council for adoption. The Commission also considers amendments to the zoning code and map.

In 2018, the Planning Commission began the process of developing a Comprehensive Plan for the City of Madeira.  This is the first Comprehensive Plan for the City of Madeira and will serve as a guideline for future development.
