The Tax Department administers and manages the collection of City income tax. Additionally, the Tax Department audits income tax returns, assists taxpayers in the preparation of City tax returns, issues tax refunds in a timely manner, and maintains taxpayer records.  Unknown Image

Taxpayer assistance with local income tax returns is available, free of charge. Please bring all the necessary W-2s (copies are acceptable), 1099s, the first 3 pages of the Federal Form 1040, and any pertinent Federal schedules to the tax office. Appointments are not required, but filing early is highly recommended, as requests for assistance increase dramatically as the tax filing deadline approaches. 

Interest Rate
The interest rate that will be in effect starting January 1, 2016 will be 5%.
The interest rate that will be in effect starting January 1, 2017 will be 6%.
The interest rate that will be in effect starting January 1, 2018 will be 6%.
The interest rate that will be in effect starting January 1, 2019 will be 7%.
The interest rate that will be in effect starting January 1, 2020 will be 7%.

Extensions
There is not a separate form to complete for a City of Madeira tax extension, so please provide a copy of your Federal extension. Extension requests may also be faxed or emailed to the Tax Department.  Please include your name, address, phone number, and the last four digits of your social security number.

Tax Rates
The City of Madeira has an earnings tax of 1% that applies to all who live, work, operate a business within the city, or do business within the City of Madeira.  This included property owners that rent their property.
