Who Must File?
The City of Madeira has a mandatory filing requirement (even if you have no income) for all residents 18 years of age and older. This filing requirement includes those who rent their residence.
All non-residents with income earned within the City of Madeira are required to file a City of Madeira tax return if their employer does not withhold City of Madeira taxes. If the employer withholds City of Madeira taxes from the payroll check, you do not need to file with the City of Madeira.
All non-residents engaged in a business (realtors, construction workers, postal carriers, etc.) who have sales or services performed within the City of Madeira must file a tax return whether or not tax is due.
All non-residents who own rental property within the City of Madeira must file a tax return whether or not tax is due (even if you have a loss).
All entities operating a business within or doing business within the City of Madeira must file an annual City of Madeira tax return on net profits and losses, whether or not tax is due.
