City Council Approves Miami Avenue Traffic Study

At the December 14, 2020 City Council meeting, Council approved the adoption of the Miami Avenue Traffic Plan.

In January of 2020, the City entered into a contract with 143Engineers to provide a traffic study and improvement recommendations for Miami Avenue corridor.  The review of traffic patterns and recommendations for future improvements came from the goals in the Comprehensive Plan to connect the community through a transportation network that balances the need for efficient vehicular traffic flow with the safe and inviting pedestrian and bicycle facilities and provide an inviting pedestrian experience along Miami Avenue within Downtown.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions on gather size, the public comment period was held through a project website where residents could review and comment on a draft of the plan.  Additionally, Planning Commission and City Council held several joint public meetings to review the draft.

The final report for the Traffic Plan can be read in full HERE.  For further details on the statistics that went into the report, please read the APPENDIX.  The PLAN SHEET is a graphic representation of the study area and recommendations .
